Balancing Mind, Body, and Spirit

At Balance Foundation, Inc., we understand that overcoming opioid addiction is a complex journey that encompasses not just the physical aspect but also the mental and spiritual dimensions of an individual’s well-being. Our approach integrates Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) as a crucial component of a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan.

Medication is a valuable tool within the spectrum of recovery, playing a pivotal role in managing the challenges associated with opioid addiction. However, it’s essential to recognize that medication alone does not constitute a cure. Our MAT approach is designed to address the entirety of an individual’s being—mind, body, and spirit—promoting sustainable abstinence and a restored, fulfilling life.

Medications used in our approach aim to normalize the brain’s function, which may have been impaired by prolonged opioid addiction. These medications enable individuals to actively participate in evidence-based treatments that facilitate the journey toward recovery.

Our Medications

Methadone

With over five decades of extensive research, methadone stands as a synthetic drug with a proven track record for safety and effectiveness in treating opioid addiction. It acts as a crucial ally during the initial phases of withdrawal, alleviating cravings and paving the way for a meaningful recovery journey.

Suboxone® (Buprenorphine)

Similar to methadone, Suboxone® (buprenorphine) plays a vital role in reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms. What sets it apart is its convenience—it can be prescribed in a doctor’s office rather than a clinic. Suboxone occupies the same brain receptors as opioids without inducing a high, offering a supportive bridge to recovery.

Vivitrol (Naltrexone)

Scientifically proven to diminish opioid cravings and reduce alcohol relapse rates, Vivitrol offers a unique monthly solution. Administered through an injection, Vivitrol blocks opioid receptors in the brain for an entire month, rendering opiates ineffective. To undergo Vivitrol treatment, individuals must complete a comprehensive detoxification process.
